CONCEPT
TO THE POINT is a live weekly talk show airing Thursdays at 5pm, Time Warner Channel 34. It seeks to examine current affairs and political issues of topical interest in a rigorous yet entertaining way with emphasis on the grass roots impact such issues may have. Its audience is the politically aware viewer who is seeking balanced and simplified access to, and may be affected by, such issues. The intention is not to convey the “news” but to delve more deeply into news worthy topics. This is accomplished via a combination of expert guest interviews and editorial commentary.

BACKGROUND
The current political/current affairs environment has reached a new level of intensity. One in which dialog is reduced rather than enhanced by partisan sparring. The emergence of a multitude of information media channels(expanded news-only channels, the internet “chat rooms’ and blogging,etc) has caused a reduction in dialog and increase in single issue advocacy. The traditional role of the press is being re-visited. Issues are presented in an atmosphere of fear. Ideological intentions are often hidden behind solutions presented as practical necessities. Neither Political party is innocent of these tactics. The political process itself fails to deliver dialog because of its structural inertia-grass roots issues are ignored by politicians too secure in their posts. To The Point seeks to shed light on both the issues and the gridlock itself.
