Ain't That Peculiar
Born in Washington, D.C. on April 2, 1939, Marvin
first sang and played organ in his father's church.
He described the immediate sense of reward in
a famous quote: "The ladies in the church, they
would hug me and bring me to them. Psychologically,
sensually, I liked this."
Marvin sang about how he lived and the demons
he was dealing with. He was deeply affected by
his brother Frankie's stories from the battlefields
of Vietnam and determined to respond to the social
change of the times.
This documentary tells how he lived right up
to Marvin's tragic death in 1984 by his father's
hand stunned a following that had come to treasure
his talents and insights.
